Intravenous Micronutrient Therapy (IVMT)
Using IVMT, our physicians are able to provide each patient with an individualized formula of vitamins and minerals athat are 100% absorbed into the tissues of the body.
IVMT is useful in treating
- Asthma
- Migraines
- Fatigue (including chronic fatigue syndrome)
- Fibromyalgia
- Acute muscle spasm
- Upper respiratory tract infections
- Infections that are bacterial, viral or fungal in origin
- Chronic sinusitis
- Seasonal allergic rhinitis
- Cardiovascular disease
- Vitamin deficiency due to gastrointestinal malabsorption
- Vitamin deficiency due to chronic disease
Types of Intravenous preparations used
- Vitamin and mineral blends
- DMPS challenge for Heavy Metal Toxicity
- Intravenous Hydrochloric Acid (HCL)
- Intravenous Phosphatidylcholine (PC)
- High Dose Vitamin C Intravenous Drip
- Intravenous Amino Acids
- Alpha Lipoic Acid
History
IV micronutrient treatment was pioneered by John Myers M.D, a physician from Baltimore.
He used a combination of magnesium chloride, calcium gluconate, thiamine, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, calcium pantothenate, vitamin B complex, vitamin C, and dilute hydrochloric acid that was, later, affectionately termed the "Meyer's Cocktail."
Current formulations have been modified from the original by Dr. Alan Gaby who took over care of Dr Myers’ patients after his death in 1984. Many physicians continue to modify the Meyer’s IV according to the individual needs of the patient.
Members from a wide range of national medical associations report use of IVMT, including:
- The American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP)
- The American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM)
- The American Holistic Medical Association (AHMA)
- The American Academy of Pain Management (AAPM)
- International Society of Orthomolecular Medicine (ISOM)
