What is naturopathic medicine?

Naturopathic medicine combines modern science, progressive medicine and natural therapies to support the body’s ability to heal. We look at the whole person and how all of your body systems are connected to each other and your environment. Naturopathic doctors have completed medical school and practice a full scope of specialized medicine.

What can I expect on my first visit?

Your initial visit is a detailed consultation, usually 60–90 minutes. We’ll review your health history, current concerns, and goals. Lab testing or imaging may be recommended, and together we’ll create a personalized care plan.

Do you offer telemedicine?

Yes. We provide secure virtual visits for some cases. Please confirm if a telemedicine visit is appropriate for your care by speaking with your doctor.

Do you prescribe medications?

Yes. When appropriate, we may prescribe conventional medications and coordinate with your other healthcare providers. We also integrate nutritional, lifestyle, and natural therapies.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Please complete all intake forms ahead of time and bring any recent lab results, imaging, or medication lists. Write down your questions or concerns so we can make the most of your visit. Please DO NOT send all of your previous medical records to our clinic until you have met with the doctor to discern what we need sent from your previous provider.

Please also verify your insurance coverage (or lack thereof) prior to your visit. If you are not sure of the exact details of your plan, simply download this insurance form. This form contains all of the questions to ask your carrier about your individual plan. You can acquire this information by calling the number on the back of your insurance card and talking with the friendly folks customer service. If you bring this completed information in on your first visit, your insurance will be billed quickly and efficiently.

Do you take insurance?

We are in network with the following insurance plans: *
Aetna
BCBS
Cigna***
Pacific Source
Providence ***
HMA
Harrison Trust
We are not able to accept or bill Medicare, medicaid, OHP or kaiser.

* Keep in mind that even if we are in network with an insurance plan, the specific insurance product a patient has within that plan may not cover Naturopathic Medicine. We require that you call your insurance to confirm Naturopathic Coverage before every visit.
*** We are currently in negotiations with Providence and Cigna health plans and may no longer be in network with Providence and Cigna starting in 2026. This is due to these plans administering benefits through a third party called ASHN.

For those with good health insurance coverage, there is a PRP harvesting fee (either $250 or $350 depending on location of injections) plus your copay or coinsurance responsibility. The fee for harvesting and preparing the PRP is NOT covered by insurance. This fee is $250.00 for small joints such as the: neck, elbow, wrist, ankle, and low back. The PRP harvesting fee for large joints such as the knee, shoulder, and hip is $350.00. The visit and surgical procedures will be billed to your insurance provider and therefore there may be an additional responsibility that is billed to the patient after the response from your insurer. The above mentioned harvesting fee, does not include the cost for the office visit, injection procedure, or ultrasound diagnostics. The procedural and office visit fees may be subject to your deductible, copay and coinsurance responsibility according to your health insurance policy contract. Sellwood Family Medicine will submit a claim on your behalf. For those without health insurance, the visit and PRP procedural fee is one global fee with a cost range of $450- $750. The cost range depends on the number and type of injection, size of joint, and possible need for ultrasound needle guidance, nerve hydrodissection, etc. Patients are responsible for confirming with their insurance company their eligibility, benefit information and in/out of network status for any services provided by Dr. Patrick Chapman.
