Sellwood Family Medicine is located in the heart of the Sellwood neighborhood on Tacoma street.  Our clinic is an old Victorian home circa 1905 that we have transformed into a warm and comfortable medical clinic.  We believe that the environment in which you receive medical care should model health and sustainability and not a sterile windowless room with buzzy lights.

Our Garden

We believe that food is medicine. We also believe that medical systems should model healthy and sustainable food access.

Sellwood Family Medicine has been growing organic fruit and vegetables since our first year (2008) . This year’s crop included heirloom tomatoes, potatoes, rhubarb, kale, chard, onions, garlic, shallots, peppers, lettuce, snap peas, cilantro, basil, and strawberries. Medicinal herbs and flowers are also scattered throughout.

Patients are welcome to explore the garden and even sample any fruit and vegetable crops. In the summer the garden evolves into an extension of our waiting room- a necessity that was inspired by the pandemic.

Solar Energy

Sellwood Family Medicine, LLC has a great interest in environmental sustainability. Since 2009, we have been operating a 4800 watt solar photovoltaic (electric) system that provides 60 percent of our total energy use. Despite the limited amount of sunshine, Oregon has become a leader in solar power.

Thanks to incentive funding from the Energy Trust of Oregon coupled with state and federal tax credits, Sellwood Family Medicine was able to make this project a reality. In addition to reduced energy costs, we have made a substantial reduction in our carbon ‘footprint.’ Please let us know if you have further ideas on sustainability.
